"BLACK ICE": If you've ever experienced the stomach-flipping panic of driving along & hitting a stretch of road that has a skim coating of black ice -you know what we're talking about!

Is the air a little "snappy"?; is there a skim of ice or frost on your car's door, windshield, or roof? Was there some drizzle or fog earlier & now the temperature is dropping? How about that driveway you pass every day on the way to work... the one from which rain and snow melt always flows onto the roadway (& then freezes there)? Remember that downhill stretch of road that faces away from the sun? Or that shady & curved patch of road coming up just ahead?
What can anyone do to avoid having a crash because of black ice? SLOW DOWN & be ALERT. You often can NOT tell by simply looking at the pavement -especially if it is a recently paved road that is still black in color.
Be alert - Be wary - Be smart.
